Find out more about digital badges
A digital badge is a visual representation of a verified achievement such as a skill. Badges are issued, accessed, and displayed online, and can be shared on social media channels, personal profiles and resumes.
Representing your skills as a digital badge gives you a way to share your abilities online in a way that is simple, trusted and can be easily verified in real time. Badges provide employers and peers concrete evidence of what you had to do to earn your credential and what you’re now capable of.
Each digital badge will have it’s own criteria. This might include requirements such as completion of training, demonstration of a skill in a professional context, or possibly multiple criteria. Each badge will show the earning critera on it’s unique URL so others can see what it takes to earn the badge.
We have partnered with industry leader Credly to use their digital badging platform for badge issuing. The technology Credly uses is based on the Open Badge Standards. This enables you to manage, share and verify your competencies digitally.
Each of your digital badges will have a unique URL that you can use to share on other platforms, such as LinkedIn or in your email signature. For more ways to share your digital badge please see Credly’s help page.
You can easily configure your privacy settings in Credly. You’re in complete control of the information about yourself that is made public.
You will receive an email notification from Credly (admin@credly.com) with instructions for claiming your badge. If you are receiving your first digital badge via Credly you can set up your account.
While badges are simply digital image files, they are uniquely linked to data hosted on Credly. This link to verified data makes them more reliable and secure than a paper-based certificate. It also eliminates the possibility of anyone claiming your credential and your associated identity.
